Busy firing in all manner of goals for Lyon over the past 3 season, it really as been no surprise that a litany of European clubs have been hovering over French talisman Alexandre Lacazette recently.
Whilst Arsenal have remained the player’s most likely destination given their history over signing France-based rising talents, Manchester United have recently stepped into the ring with their vast transfer war chest. With Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku reportedly their prime targets ahead of the new season, the France international would represent an ideal fall back if their prime options search for pastures new elsehwere.
Representing his national side from every level starting at the U-16’s, Lacazette has managed just one goal for Les Bleu over 11 appearances. However, a 100 goal returnover the last 4 seasons at Lyon has bolstered the players profile expenetionaly.
With his current club seemingly helpless to let him leave for Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer, a potential move to the Spanish capital was halted after the multi Champions League finalists were dealt a swift transfer embargo. Indeed, with Lacazette clearly keen on a move away, Lyon chairman Jean Michel Aulas has admitted he’s fielded several phone calls frombig clubs enquiring about the strikers services.
“We have a very strong relationship with Alexander,” Aulas told AS.
“We are not going to do anything that could upset him, only if it was agreed in the beginning.
“We are in contact with the people who advise him and with some clubs that call us from time to time.”
Currently Lacazetts’ value sits at around the 35m mark, however with two years still remaning on his contract, a bigger fee is expcted to tare him away from the Ligue title chasers. Thats is to say, Aulas has yet ruled out his player may infact be seen in a Lyon shirty next season.
“We remind you that the departure of Lacazette is not final,” he added.
“We want to keep him, we need a quality team and he is part of it.”
